I will try to re-test if it inspite possibly also worked with HDMI under the 0.0.7 version (though I had always been believing it was not - however I am no more absolutely sure now). However that will hardly be possible since the radeon driver or the dri xorg code now overflows the event loop as soon as i just try to boot into X (https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=32393). p.s.: Will git auto-apply the patch that I can view under the given http address on the right kernel version if I invoke git with it in the right way? One more thx. for the patch! This is with Wine 1.3.13 and GLSL disabled in Wine. (GLSL codepath works fine) I did a regression test: 68b701f5ded5f6b73a6b07cf37d862fab4836607 is the first bad commit commit 68b701f5ded5f6b73a6b07cf37d862fab4836607 Author: Tom Stellard <tstellar(a)gmail.com> Date: Sat Feb 5 22:39:58 2011 -0800 r300/compiler: Disable register rename pass on r500 The scheduler and the register allocator are not good enough yet to deal with the effects of the register rename pass. This was causing a 50% performance drop in Lightsmark. The pass can be re-enabled once the scheduler and the register allocator are more mature. r300 and r400 still need this pass, because it prevents a lot of shaders from using too many texture indirections. NOTE: This is a candidate for the 7.10 branch. However this looked like unlikely to cause this regression, I was quite sure it worked before register rename pass was introduced and indeed commit bbe49bc585c4fed46f55d184b463d13bddd97f1b (r300/compiler: Use presubtract operations as much as possible) was working fine. Also commit 8833f53e659e079e7ab74bb9197f9b44b1eeefe0 (r300/compiler: Enable rename_reg pass for r500 cards) alone or with 68b701f5ded5f6b73a6b07cf37d862fab4836607 manually applied worked fine, so this have led me to an idea that the actual regression happened somewhere between 8833f53e659e079e7ab74bb9197f9b44b1eeefe0 and 68b701f5ded5f6b73a6b07cf37d862fab4836607 and was hidden by the register rename pass. Finally bisecting between mentioned commits and manually applying 68b701f5ded5f6b73a6b07cf37d862fab4836607 in each step led to: 8f32c6cfc6503dd234f09fb06941803866c23c65 is the first bad commit commit 8f32c6cfc6503dd234f09fb06941803866c23c65 Author: Tom Stellard <tstellar(a)gmail.com> Date: Sat Jan 29 14:37:58 2011 -0800 r300/compiler: Standardize the number of bits used by swizzle fields Swizzles are now defined everywhere as a field with 12 bits that contains 4 channels worth of meaningful information. Any channel that is unused is set to RC_SWIZZLE_UNUSED. This change is necessary because rgb instructions and alpha instructions were initializing channels that would never be used (channel 3 for rgb and channels 1-3 for alpha) with 0 (aka RC_SWIZZLE_X). This made it impossible to use generic helper functions for swizzles, because sometimes a channel value of 0 meant unused and other times it meant RC_SWIZZLE_X. [PATCH] Big endian support for RV730

Hi Here are a couple of patches that enable support for RV730 on big endian architectures. The following items will work : * KMS - correct color in framebuffer - interrupts - kms blit - power management * DDX - kms enabled - exa - video textures - hardware cursor For the BE modifications, the AMD Linux Engineering team advised me to focus on : - make sure all the atombios data table accesses are endian safe - set the display controller swappers properly(http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/dri-devel/2011-January/00748… - make sure the appropriate endian swapper is enabled in the texture and vertex fetch constants (see SQ_TEX_RESOURCE_WORD* and SQ_VTX_RESOURCE_WORD* regs) - make sure the shaders are stored in LE order - make sure shader constant buffers are stored in LE order - endian swap IH (interrupt handler) packets - endian swap the CP command buffers - endian swap WB (write back) buffers That's what I tried to do and so far, I have KMS and DDX (with EXA) drivers working. Drivers have been tested on a MPC8640 custom design, with a custom graphics board based on E4690 (RV730). I'm using a custom linux distribution with Xorg 7.6 (xf86-video-ati 6.13.2). The latest kernel available for my board is 2.6.35.6 so I haven't tested with upstream kernel. I'd also like to test more the ddx driver in order to check the EXA functions do a correct rendering. Is there a driver framework testing, or some kind of unit test you, ddx driver writers, are using ? Regards, Cedric Cano

I also included a possible fix for this (attached glcpp.patch), but I'm not completly sure if that's the right way to do it. I'm using Linux kernel 2.6.36 RC5. The problem is, that desktop effects in KDE Kwin 4.5.1 work quite OK (a bit slow) but one effect is extremely slow: the Present Windows onw. When I trigger it, it takes about two minutes until all open windows on the current desktop are shrinked so they are simulatinusly shown. This was with only two Konqueror windows open. [mesa] master broken with "make -j3"

Hi, yesterdays (aprrox 24hrs ago) mesa master was OK for building with "make -j3" on my IBM T41p (Pentium-M, 1G RAM, radeon RV250), now it's broken: gcc: ../../src/glsl/libglsl.a: No such file or directory make[2]: *** [glcpp/glcpp] Error 1 make[2]: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs.... make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/sd/src/mesa/mesa/src/glsl' Building the "normal" way (aka "make -j1") runs fine, but parallel building seems to be f-up-ed. Tested with mesa master... commit 6ed0f2ac112d22278cf051c2cee9c2199a9025ea Author: José Fonseca <jfonseca(a)vmware.com> svga: Enable the draw pipeline for smooth lines. OpenArena Anholt Demo

Hi, after Debian/squeeze was released a newer (version of) openarena made its was from experimental to unstable. Unfortunately, the OA-E-D does not run as benchmark, I end up in the main menue of OA. I have tried to dig into the problem by compiling latest mesa-from-git and ddx-from-git for my radeon RV250. Furthermore, I have unpacked the TGZ from [1] to ~/.openarena/. Currently, I have no idea what's wrong, so I attached the output of... $ LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose $(which openarena) +exec anholt 2>/tmp/openarena_anholt.log ... Xorg.log and dmesg. [ JFYI: I am using a linux-next kernel and libdrm with driver-date & core-date removal. ] Any help, hints, money... appreciated. Once it tells me that effects can be turned on and the other times that can’t. For example just before now it told me that they can’t be and then they were on actually! After that kWin crashed.
