Using a Radeon HD3870 that works fine under Windows (64-bit). After a supposed initial success using a pre-release version of KMS drivers (which may be a red herring), I have been unable to get 3D acceleration on any Ubuntu release from Lucid, unless I use a non-PAE kernel (I have 4GB RAM). In the dmesg output, the following lines are present before the kernel oops, showing that the radeon driver took 11408.919 msecs to resume and the kernel oops is due to resume taking longer than 10 seconds total (11430 msecs). The bug is only triggered sporadicly, but a good way to reproduce I found is to go and play a youtube video. e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ETDE0VGJY4 then position the mouse pointer at the bottom-right of the player where the fullscreen button is and start clicking many times as fast as you can. The video card is HD3870. When running with KMS, I'm seeing flickering in Baldur's Gate Tutu (which is based on Baldur's Gate II engine, so the bug is probably also present there), where small random rectangles flash brightly for a fraction of second and then dim again. The issue is apparent even when I don't do anything, but when I move the mouse cursor around, it becomes worse, and the mouse cursor disappears from time to time when moved. Tested wine-1.3.2 and wine-1.1.44, the issue occurs in both. I do not use compositing. The game is configured to use 3D acceleration (it won't run otherwise). I also tried a 10.04 stock live cd. Results were exactly the same. I'm trying to use an 7" portable dvd-player (a ViewFun MP-72. It is also sold as Mustek, and the same chipset is found in other dvd-players as well) as a 2nd monitor. It worked with fglrx... I also have an 19" LCD monitor connected with a DVI-VGA adapter. I can boot the machine in two ways. With and without the dvd player connected. Without the player connected everything works fine. The login screen and desktop work at 1440*900 and there's proper acceleration. Everithing works as it should. Kudo's to whoever did make this happen! (ati/amd employers excluded) Finally! (I own this card since sept. 2007, and I never had proper drivers until now...) But I could also pulg in the dvd player. I can see the bios messages and grub menu on both screens. I might even see (part of) usplash. Then the dvd player turns blue, like it is recieving no signal. The main monitor displays the login screen at a distorted 1024*768. When I login my monitor switches to 1440*900, but it shows an out-of-range error. The image looks a bit noisy, and the refresh rate looks low, like 25Hz. Especially mouse movement is not fluid.
