Typo, it should be

patch -p1 < name_of_the_patch.patch ^^^^^

but you probably already know that

I tried the patch with a 3.0.4 kernel (latest stable). It works and gives something like 2 or 4 fps gain (before the patch the fps dropped to 24-26 while repeatedly minimizing a window, now it drops to 26-28). Do you need even the test with the logs?
