--- Comment #153 from garththeisen@hotmail.com --- I too have toggled my TPD switch (XFX R9 390) and continue to get black screen freeze at non-deterministic times with a non-stressful workload. Running 4.11.1 with the latest git firmware (radeon).
My work-around is to set the power_dpm_force_performance_level and the black screen behaviour is mitigated.
Let me know if I might assist in any way collecting logs etc.
