The situation improved a lot. Unigine Valley is now smooth at low framerates with some occasional flickering when the BTR limit is crossed. Rocket League still flickers when the game stutters.
At this point I'm not sure if the bug is fully fixed or if it's just a hardware limitation. Anyhow, it's good progress.
