Just a note that this series has been superseeded by the generic fbdev work. During Christmas I got the idea that maybe it was possible to do generic fbdev using dumb buffers. A prototype for this was done in one day, but it took months before it was mergeable due to a drm_client API that had to be made.
So this is the superseeding series based on the generic fbdev work:
