The FPS when desktop effects are activated in KDE 4.6.4 under a 3.0 rc6 kernel are the half of the FPS under a 2.6.38 kernel. The experience with the 2.6.38 kernel is smoother and generally more fluid.

2.6.38 -> 60 to 120 FPS with vsync on 3.0 rc6 -> 30 to 60 FPS with vsync on

I don't know if this is a regression.
