Bug ID: 96860 Summary: Aliasing when using vdpau with mpv Product: Mesa Version: 11.2 Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Linux (All) Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Drivers/Gallium/radeonsi Assignee: dri-devel@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: dolohow@outlook.com QA Contact: dri-devel@lists.freedesktop.org
When using hardware decoding with radeonsi along with mpv I can observe aliasing on rough edges.
It was previously reported on mpv issue tracker
https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv/issues/3317
but the main developer pointed out that the bug is in mesa.

--- Comment #1 from Christian König deathsimple@vodafone.de --- Does this happen with -vo vdpau as well? If not it sounds like the deinterlacing shader in mpv doesn't work 100% correctly.

Does this happen with -vo vdpau as well?
No. It didn't happen with mapping video mixer output surfaces in GL either. This issue came up because mpv started to map video surface textures directly.
If not it sounds like the deinterlacing shader in mpv doesn't work 100% correctly.
Any clue what could be wrong? (See linked mpv bug report.)
Also, another user replied and claimed it got fixed by updating to Mesa 12.

Does this happen with -vo vdpau as well?
No. I will try and test with mesa 12.0 soon.

--- Comment #4 from Łukasz Żarnowiecki dolohow@outlook.com --- I tested mesa 12.0.1 and the problem is fixed. Affected version is 11.2.2. Should I close this one?

--- Comment #5 from Christian König deathsimple@vodafone.de --- I'm still curios what could have been the issue here.
But that doesn't sound like something we need to push on.
