Hello,
I have HD 3600 and I am using Debian sid x86_64. I have noticed recently in my dmesg output the following line: "failed to evaluate ATIF got AE_BAD_PARAMETER" and I was suggested to file a bug here.
Please see attached full dmesg output of my machine.
Thank you,
V.

--- Comment #1 from Alex Deucher agd5f@yahoo.com 2011-08-16 06:59:07 PDT --- This is not a bug. That ACPI method only exists on certain systems and is required for certain video hotkey events. On systems without that table, the message can be ignored.

--- Comment #2 from Jonathan Nieder jrnieder@gmail.com 2011-08-16 14:02:24 PDT --- Indeed, sorry I was unclear. I meant that it would be useful to file a bug about the screen randomly turning off and the GPU locking up. See
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?msg=5;bug=637392 (initial report) http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?msg=68;bug=637392 (some logs)
for details.
Actually, now I don't remember --- Volodymyr, did you ever try the non-PREEMPT_RT v3.0 kernel after installing the firmware?

--- Comment #3 from Jonathan Nieder jrnieder@gmail.com 2011-08-23 00:26:57 PDT --- Volodymyr, am I correct in guessing that the screen sporadically turns off with linux-image-3.0.0-1-amd64 (non-rt) just like it did with Linux 2.6.32?

--- Comment #4 from Volodymyr Shcherbyna volodymyr@shcherbyna.com 2011-08-23 01:05:41 PDT --- Hello Jonathan,
(In reply to comment #3)
Volodymyr, am I correct in guessing that the screen sporadically turns off with linux-image-3.0.0-1-amd64 (non-rt) just like it did with Linux 2.6.32?
Exactly. I got the same problem in linux-image-3.0.0-1-amd64 (non-rt) , in rt and in vanilla rc7.
But it seems like this is happening only in amd64 builds. After being unable to find a solution for the problem I installed Debian stable x86, and the problem is gone.

Using the same apps, and the same versions of libgl1-mesa-dri and xserver-xorg-video-radeon? (GPU lockups are usually caused by userspace bugs)
If so, it would be interesting to see dmesg for both cases from the same kernel version.
