Some time ago there was a patch [1] merged in which was designed to fix DPMS (monitor would go on/off all the time [2] instead of just going off), I was happy to see this one but unfortunately it doesn't work for me - I still experience the same behaviour. I'm terrible lazy so I didn't report it before but seeing that some "unrelated" change might be the cause of bug in dri code (as in #42162) got me wondering.
Should I open a bug report for it ?

File a bug (https://bugs.freedesktop.org) and attach your xorg log and dmesg output.

This patch may also fix the issue: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git;a=commitdiff;h=...
