Bug #: 52560 Summary: Xorg -configure creats useless xorg.conf for tdfx Classification: Unclassified Product: DRI Version: XOrg CVS Platform: All OS/Version: Linux (All) Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: DRM/other AssignedTo: dri-devel@lists.freedesktop.org ReportedBy: tuxracer@hispeed.ch
Had want to install my old Voodoo3/2000 PCI that 2 or 3 years ago perfectly work. Now on actual xorg-server at least 1.10 1.11 1.12 I really unable to configure a working 3D. If i use the driver without any xorg.conf I can use at least Software-Rendering. But if i create a xorg.conf using Xorg -configure it gives no 3D.
On old xorg-servers the only thing i had to do for 3D on this card was to set the resolution to 1024x768 at 16bit colordepth and it worked.

--- Comment #1 from Chi-Thanh Christopher Nguyen chithanh@gentoo.org 2012-07-28 14:17:05 PDT --- xorg-server is not responsible for 3D acceleration, mesa is. Xorg.0.log and the output of
LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose glxinfo
might give some hints what is wrong. My guess is that your version of mesa no longer ships the dri1 parts which are needed for 3dfx cards.

--- Comment #2 from tuxracer@hispeed.ch 2012-07-28 15:11:44 PDT --- yes but Xorg -configure is the part of xorg that should create a working configfile and without it is better than nothing, and if i use the file createt by Xorg -configure the last rest of 3D also is gone
And it doesn't

--- Comment #3 from Martin Peres martin.peres@free.fr --- Hi,
Freedesktop's Bugzilla instance is EOLed and open bugs are about to be migrated to http://gitlab.freedesktop.org.
To avoid migrating out of date bugs, I am now closing all the bugs that did not see any activity in the past year. If the issue is still happening, please create a new bug in the relevant project at https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm (use misc by default).
Sorry about the noise!
