Patch against 2.6.35.3 to remove the offending code
Since upgrading from 2.6.34, programs such as Neverball and MythTV have only
updated the screen while moving the mouse or pressing keys. I managed to bisect
the kernel back to the infamous commit
bc35afdb182d4c48c889fe27ba7a5d7ea0c8194d, along with its related fix
0baf2d8fe43fdd81faa30e65ff71785c99c78520. These add support for querying the
hardware CRTC ID. I knew straight away that this was probably related to me
using Zaphod mode and a test with a single screen did indeed make the problem
go away. There was still the occasional flicker though, which may or may not be
related. I don't get any flickering with the code removed (see attached patch)
while using Zaphod mode.
I knew it was probably related to Zaphod mode because I know that the CRTCs
play a key role there but beyond that, I'm not sure what the problem is. I
don't know exactly what this code is used for.
I probably should have tested two screens without Zaphod mode but my wife will
kill me if I restart the machine again. ;) I'm guessing that isn't affected
because it's a very common setup.

I updated mesa from git and the blur effect in kwin does not work anymore.
I'm on gentoo linux using gallium on an ATI radeon mobility X700 with the
gallium r300g driver.
The effect used to work; unfortunately I cannot tell which commit was fine with
it.
Now instead than the blurred region I get a black area behind the transparency.

Screenshot of corrupt textures
A large number of textures are rendered incorrectly in World of Warcraft. (The
game appears otherwise stable and moderately playable, although the frame rate
isn't particularly high.)
This is with an AGP RV350, running Linux 2.6.33.5, xorg-xf86-drv-ati from git
and Fedora 13.
My theory is that this is related to bug 28033, which has been fixed for r300g.
However it is impossible to confirm this due to WoW crashing with r300g before
I can enter the game. (See bug 28630.)

Bumping the 1sec timeout to 2sec cures it - does not seems to be impacting
anything else.

Summary: r600g makes kwin (ab)use 100% CPU

1. Use r600g as of today ("eselect mesa r600 set gallium" on Gentoo)
2. Enable desktop effects in kwin
3. kwin now uses 100% CPU doing.. who knows.
I've tried disabling every effect in kwin, doesn't matter. Tried changing other
settings also, makes no difference. kwin works fine with r600c.
I started kwin, waited a while, it keeps on using 100% CPU forever so how long
should not matter, and ran gdb kdm $pid. bt gave this:
