Summary: Regression in r600 driver: due to commit
603741a86df0e43c0b52e8c202a35c7fe2fc1d9c some texture

screenshot of breakage due to regression
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/commit/?id=603741a86df0e43c0b52e8c202…
does break displaying the wesnoth-gl branch when using the r600 classic driver.
Things are displayed nicely using r600 gallium. It looks like some completely
wrong textures are displayed (so the "wrong stuff" displayed appears to be
something from a wrong region of the grahpics ram or something like this).
Wesnoth is using FBOs (regarding what I heard from alink) to display stuff.
I attached a screenshot of what is shown as well as what should be shown.
To reproduce this:
svn co -r47099 svn://svn.gna.org/svn/wesnoth/branches/ogl wesnoth-ogl
cd wesnoth-ogl
cmake .
make
./wesnoth .
I explicitly mention a revision in case that all the menu setup stuff is
changed over the next days. In general compiling wesnoth can also be done using
scons or autotool and always does require the dependencies listed at
http://wiki.wesnoth.org/CompilingWesnoth . The resulting svn checkout needs
about 1GB on the harddrive and compiling will take some time (usually longer
than compiling a kernel).

Summary: Flash doesn't work in fullscreen with r300 using Mesa
7.9

I upgraded to libdrm 2.4.22, Mesa 7.9 (--enable-xcb --enable-glx-tls
--enable-gallium-svga --enable-gallium-radeon --enable-gallium-swrast
--with-dri-drivers=r300,r600,swrast), xorg-server 1.9.0.901 and
xf86-video-ati-6.13.2.
For some reason, the same configuration works with Mesa 7.8.2, but with 7.9 I'm
unable to get Flash videos working in fullscreen. The image is corrupted and I
can't view anything.
I don't know if the results from glxgears show something, but I get about 300
with swrast, which works fine.
Running synchronized to the vertical refresh. The framerate should be
approximately the same as the monitor refresh rate.
378 frames in 5.0 seconds = 75.483 FPS
I'm using kernel 2.6.35.5 with KMS.
The logs don't show any errors.

I've just tried the opensource Mesa driver on this eMachines E640G laptop with
integrated ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470. I'm using Linux kernel 2.6.36 RC5. The
problem is, that desktop effects in KDE Kwin 4.5.1 work quite OK (a bit slow)
but one effect is extremely slow: the Present Windows onw. When I trigger it,
it takes about two minutes until all open windows on the current desktop are
shrinked so they are simulatinusly shown. This was with only two Konqueror
windows open. After the windows were shrinked there was also a problem that
they had a lot of red dots all over them.

broken menu
Menus are broken hard in Unigine Sanctuary v2.2. Background rendering is all
black and there is corruption all over the screen, only some text is rendered
correctly. I did try different debug options and I did found out it works fine
with RADEON_NO_TCL=1 set.
This is with RV530, mesa: a15cf3cd0b21d593033a3abd2b1788de292001bd and 2.6.36
kernel. This problem was already mentioned in bug 28294, however that bug was
getting really long and main problem there is fixed.

The gearbox demo shows a black texture on the cube instead of the moving gears.
But if I reduce the window size to about 50% the gears appear again. Also the
gears do not appear suddenly, they are shown partially at first.
The gearbox demo work fine with r600c .
Versions tested: git from Okt 8 2010 and some older Versions (up to August),
drm-radeon-testing and 2.6.36-rc5 kernels, xserver 1.9, the bug can be found in
all Versions I tested

Summary: [r600g, tiling] visual errors and GPU resets

Hello!
Yesterday I saw with much delight that the was some new tiling code in r600g,
which could be enabled with a simple envvar. So I pulled drm-radeon-testing and
applied Dave's patch for the CS checker to it (this one:
http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.video.dri.devel/51060).
However I encountered several problems with the new code (exporting
R600_FORCE_TILING=1 makes a difference, so it is working to some extent:
1) ioquake3 shows lots of gfx errors. Mipmaps are affected the most (when
setting r_textureMode to GL_LINEAR these problems disappear), but also small
textures seem to be affected (staircases, which use small textures, are either
rendered totally black or black with white stripes).
2) doom3 (demo) shows similar mipmap-related errors.
3) ut2004 is completly unplayable, I get GPU resets nearly every frame and most
of the geometry is missing.
4) ut2003 kinda works, but the HUD is messed up and sprite rendering is totally
broken
Going to post some snips from the kernel log later.
My hardware:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon HD 4770 [RV740]
libdrm, mesa and xf86-video-ati are all git master tip.
ColorTiling is enabled in the xorg.conf, verified this by checking the Xorg
logfile.
Greets,
Tobias
