We are working with new laptops that have the Ryzen 7 4700U.
It fails to launch X so I can only access via the virtual terminal.
I tried with the latest mainline kernel and kernel from
https://cgit.freedesktop.org/~agd5f/linux but no luck. I also boot
the kernel with parameter amdgpu.exp_hw_support=1, but
the system freezes after loading amdgpu and I can't even switch
to the virtual terminal.
I post the bug description and related information on
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/issues/…

Please kindly advise what I should do next.
Thanks
Chris

In order to readout DP SDPs (Secondary Data Packet: DP HDR Metadata
Infoframe SDP, DP VSC SDP), it refactors handling DP SDPs codes.
It adds new compute routines for DP HDR Metadata Infoframe SDP
and DP VSC SDP.
And new writing routines of DP SDPs (Secondary Data Packet) that uses
computed configs.
New reading routines of DP SDPs are added for readout.
It adds a logging function for DP VSC SDP.
When receiving video it is very useful to be able to log DP VSC SDP.
This greatly simplifies …

In order to use a common VSC SDP Colorimetry calculating code on PSR,
it uses a new psr vsc sdp compute routine.

big crash log file
The driver crashes randomly at least once every few hours. Sometimes when left
idle, sometimes when just using chrome. I haven't found a way to reliably
reproduce the issue. After the crash the screen is full of artefacts and the
only way forward is to restart the PC.

Regression: No
I got an Acer Aspire A315-41 notebook with AMD Ryzen 5 2500U and i have had
problems with brightness not working out of the box (OTB) if i used function
buttons.
The thing is that i found that it started to work with linux-4.19.37 (fixed)
but it didn't work with linux-4.19.35 (broken).
It works from 4.19.37 but it doesn't work in later kernel series such as
linux-5.0.11 or linux-5.1 and i think the fix should also be in newer kernels.
I started to bisect but linux-4.19.36 doesn't boot with my hardware and after
many bisect skip and compiling i gave up.
Do anyone know what commit that could have fixed it?
Or why 4.19.36 won't boot on my hardware (if there was some known regression)
so i can perform an bisect.
